A Memorial Service Held in Honor of the late Father of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church
Tsehaye Debalkew, Washington D.C., August 23, 2012

A memorial service in remembrance of His Holiness, Abune Paulos, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Archbishop of Axum and Ichege of the See of Saint Teklehaimanot was held today at St Michael church in D.C.

The service took place in the midst of a packed congregation of laymen and clergy. Sermons and other church services were in order. The two- hour colourful service accommodated the presentation of the narrative pertaining to the lifelong pious service rendered by late leader of the Ethiopian Orthodox church.
A senior diplomat representing the Ethiopian embassy in Washington D.C. remembered the contributions made by His Holiness praising the Patriarch as a peace maker who strove to bring understanding and dialogue within and outside the faith. The Ethiopian embassy representative also enumerated the role played by the late church father in fostering modern ways of education in the church and other monumental social deeds he accomplished.
