Diaspora Ethiopians in the D.C. metro area Mourn their Visionary Leader!

Members of the Ethiopian Diaspora community and high ranking US officials and members of the diplomatic core residing in the Washington metropolitan area paid tribute to the great paramount leader Prime Minister Meles Zenawi at a condolence book signing ceremony held at the chancery of the Ethiopian Embassy, in Washington D.C.
The high ranking Us officials who expressed their deep sorrow on the untimely death of the late Prime Minister of Ethiopia His Excellency Mr. Meles Zenawi included Ms. Gayle Smith, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, Mr. Grant Harris Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs on the National Security Staff of the White House.
Other dignitaries who paid tribute to the late Prime Minister, were Mr. Hassan Taha, Executive Director of the Africa Group 1 Constituency of the World Bank, and Mr. Peter Pham from the Atlantic Council.

Many on the occasion, expressed their deepest love and respect to the late Prime Minister and the achievements under his leadership.
The public emotional outpouring testified to the support the great leader enjoyed for his innovative, pro-poor development plans in the fight against poverty.

The bereaving dignitaries and the members of the Ethiopian Diaspora stressed in their messages of condolences in front of the picture of the great leader emblazoned by the tri-color said that the inspiration from the Prime Minister would continue unhampered until the attainment of his dream of development in Ethiopia, peace in Africa and cooperation.

Ambassadors of Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Namibia and Zimbabwe expressed their grief and gratefulness to the late Prime Minister, who was hailed as one of the prominent African leaders who stood unflinchingly for the interests of Africa and Africans.

Diaspora participants including the youth and elderly in their messages of condolences vowed to endure the tragedy that has befallen them with the traditional Ethiopian perseverance and unity and ensure the progress of Ethiopia’s peace and sustainable development to the satisfaction of its people.

Many more Ethiopians, US officials and other dignitaries are expected to sign the book of condolence during the remaining days and over the weekend.
