The Ethiopian Customs Authority (ECA) said the
nation has obtained over three billion birr from various export items in
2005.
Rule of Origin Senior Expert with the Authority, Tekle
Gebrehiwot said that Ethiopia has exported various items to
Europe, Asia, Canada, Japan and Asian countries in the reported period.
He said the export of coffee brought over two billion birr
revenue taking the lion's share of export earning in the period.
The expert said over 212.3 million birr was secured from
the export of hides and skins, while the export of grains, oil seeds and
wax enabled the country earn over 275 million birr.
According to the expert, over 39.8 million birr and over
2.1 million birr have been obtained from the export of textile products
and incenses respectively.
Tekle said export items and revenue is steadily increasing
over the years owing to the attention paid by the government to enhance
the export sector.
